Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Grants

Two $7500 grants are available for students who matriculate in 2023, and two $7500 grants are available for students who matriculate in 2024 into the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Track of the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas (PCC). These funds can be used for any aspect of training in the PCC (course tuition, supervision, and/or personal treatment).

These one-time grants are not reimbursement grants but outright gifts. Dispersal of funds will be initiated when the awarded student enrolls in their first semester of classes as a matriculated student and can be used to cover the cost of tuition, supervision, and treatment. Tuition funds will be deducted prior to the dispersal of the remaining funds. Funds will be dispersed on a quarterly basis and will be accounted for with monthly expense reports submitted to the PCC.

Any funds remaining in the grant will be returned to the PCC should the recipient leave the program mid-year.


Newly matriculated students in the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Track (PPT) of the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas are invited to apply for a PCC PPT Grant by submitting an application by the following dates:
June 1st (for spring 2023 and spring 2024 admits)
October 1st (for fall 2023 and fall 2024 admits)

All application materials and information will be kept confidential.

Preference will be given to eligible applicants who demonstrate one of more of the following qualities:

  1. Are applying to matriculate into the psychoanalytic psychotherapy track or have been accepted into the psychoanalytic psychotherapy track to begin training in the spring of 2023 (this includes those who were accepted in fall 2022 for 2023 start)
  2. Are interested in, and committed to, developing the skills to practice psychoanalytic psychotherapy (rather than psychoanalysis)
  3. Are able to use these funds to support immersion in the program with a focus on taking courses, engaging in supervision, and pursuing one’s own treatment simultaneously.

The PCC PPT Grant selection committee will consist of members of the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Committee. The selection committee may use PCC application materials and any additional information it deems necessary, such as essays or interviews, in order to reach its decision. The decision of the selection committee will be final.
