Understanding and Using Dreams in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis

Understanding and Using Dreams (308) via Zoom Dreams have been called "the royal road to the unconscious". Learning to listen to dreams provides an opportunity to expand our capacity for analytic listening. We will discuss classical theory about dreams and contributions from more contemporary thinkers. Clinical examples will be used, and class members will present case material from their clinical work to use in group exercises to practice different ways of listening to dreams and using them with patients. Prerequisite: This class is open to matriculated Psychoanalytic Adult, Adult/Child students who have completed all or nearly all of the Core Curriculum which must include completion of Analytic Approach to Treatment, parts 1 and 2. Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy students and graduates who have completed the Core Curriculum and have at least one intensive case may also take these classes.
